ED&F Man is one of the world’s leading traders of agricultural commodities; we are looking to recruit a Financial controlling and reporting specialist in our Kiev office.
Our worldwide sugar and grains trading business operates in over 20 countries. We manage sugar procurement, production and distribution, with significant strategic growth ambitions for the future. Our grains operations link grain producers and consumers across the world, and work with processors to supply high-quality, fair grain products.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a challenging role which offers a broad spectrum of responsibilities, scope, and commercial activity. A primary objective is the provision of high quality value added financial analysis and insight to support the trading management team.
The role requires a high level of interaction with the Grains and Sugar trading business units, its related operations, and other departments within the ED&F Man Group.  This is a significant “hands on” role requiring flexibility to handle detailed transactional work as well as higher level analysis and review. 
We need an individual with a proactive approach to transactional activities, financial reporting and control, continuous improvement and business performance initiatives. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to trading management team through meaningful analysis of financial information.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting according with group standards.
  • Support the drive for continual improvement in reducing variances between actuals and forecasts.
  • Safeguard compliance with minimum control standards through performance of risk management activities and relevant risk reporting.
  • Ensure that business procedures are in line as well as local laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate month-close activities, review postings, analyze data integrity; reconcile management accounts with local GAAP and tax statements.
  • Review and monitor incomplete contracts, conduct mark-to-market valuation of forward contracts and stock.
  • Drive financial planning process, including budgeting and cash flow forecasts. 
  • Support the maximization of benefits from IT systems; seek to develop automation for regular reporting and analysis processes.
  • Identify and drive business process improvements to align operational architecture with business management structures.
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • University degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience relevant to the requirements of this role is essential
  • Industry experience is required (2-3 years), big4 background (3-4 years) preferred
  • Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
  • Practical experience in management reporting and IFRS
  • Experience within soft commodities and international environment is an advantage.
  • The individual should be able to apply their knowledge and experience to provide robust financial analysis to support commercial solutions.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and seek continuous improvement to reporting and control processes
  • Fluent in English
